The power behind Jetblack:

Jetblack will be powered by A Rolls Royce Avon 20601 turbojet. The engine was designed and developed in Britain in the early 1960's and has seen a large number of design changes and upgrades. The 20601 was used in the very successful English Electric Canberra bomber of the RAF and in recent years in the Canberra PR.9 (photo reconnaissance).

The Avon 206 generates 11,250lb of thrust, roughly 22,000 horsepower. The engine plus jet pipe is 7.3 meters and weighs over 1200kg.

The English Electric Canberra PR.9 was taken out of service on 2006. The RAF have however kept a few planes operational due to lack of a suitable replacement for this very versatile aircraft.
